Stages of obtaining Vanuatu citizenship
1. Initial personal data verification.
Carried out by the financial control unit of the Republic of Vanuatu, the immigration department and Interpol. After this, three letters of approval for obtaining citizenship are sent, provided all other documents are submitted and procedural formalities are completed. The process of initial personal data verification takes 7–10 days.
2. Submission of the full document package.
After receiving written approval from financial control, the immigration department and Interpol, each applicant must submit an application along with the necessary documents and pay for it. The fees for obtaining citizenship and the minimum investment amount are set by the government and paid through a government-appointed agent. If the citizenship process is not completed for any reason, registration fees and the investment amount are subject to full refund, provided that 100% of the amount was paid at the time of submitting all documents to the citizenship commission. Committee meetings are held twice a month.
3. Citizenship ceremony
The final step is the oath-taking ceremony, after which the Certificate of Citizenship of the Republic of Vanuatu and passport are issued (if the ceremony is held in the presence of the new citizen). If the oath is taken remotely, the passport will be delivered by a passport officer of the Republic of Vanuatu.
