UAE Minister of Economy Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri chaired the seventh meeting of the Economic Integration Committee in 2024, focusing on legislative development and enhancing the country's business climate competitiveness.
According to the minister, the Emirates has successfully established itself as one of the world's leading destinations for various types of businesses. As a result, the UAE has now registered more than 1.5 million trade licenses.
The country achieved these impressive results by implementing global best practices and supporting innovation. The Economic Integration Committee works closely with other relevant bodies to develop an advanced legislative framework that ensures national economic diversification, enhances its attractiveness for local and foreign investments, and increases the number of companies registered in the country.
Meeting participants also discussed an initiative to support and protect intellectual property rights for UAE products with Geographical Indication (GI) in regional and global markets. This will affect UAE-produced dairy products, dates, fish, and honey. The implementation of new measures is expected to stimulate local production and strengthen the UAE's global reputation as a country of origin for high-quality products.
