Oman Golden Visa — 10-Year Residency

The Oman Golden Visa Programme provides foreign investors and entrepreneurs with the opportunity to obtain long-term residency for up to 10 years.

This initiative is part of the Oman Vision 2040 national strategy and is aimed at attracting capital, developing business and supporting the country’s sustainable economic growth.

The programme grants the right to reside in Oman for up to 10 years and is focused on creating a stable investment environment, developing entrepreneurship and strengthening international cooperation.

Eligibility for the Golden Visa is determined by the applicant’s contribution to the Omani economy.
The main criteria include investment activity, participation in business, financial stability and compliance with the country’s legislation.
Depending on the applicant category, different financial requirements apply in relation to investments, asset ownership or entrepreneurial activity in Oman.

Investment Options

To obtain the visa, an investment of at least OMR 200,000 (USD 520,000) must be made.
One or several investment options may be used.

  • 01

    Real Estate Investment

    Investment of at least OMR 200,000 in residential, commercial or tourism properties located in areas where foreign ownership is permitted (ITC).
    The property must remain in the applicant’s ownership throughout the validity period of the visa.
    With a real estate investment of at least OMR 50,000 (USD 520,000), the investor may obtain a residency visa valid for 2 years.
    After the visa is issued, the main applicant is also entitled to apply for residency visas for family members.

  • 02

    Business Investment

    Participation in a company with a minimum share of OMR 200,000.The company must be registered and operating for at least one year and must provide verified financial statements.

  • 03

    Government Bonds

    Investment of at least OMR 200,000 in Oman government bonds, subject to confirmation from a local bank.

  • 04

    Bank Deposit

    Placement of a fixed deposit with an Omani bank for a period of at least 5 years, with the possibility of renewal.

  • 05

    Securities

    Investment through a registered investment portfolio with Muscat Clearing and Depository Company in the amount of at least OMR 200,000.

  • 06

    Job Creation

    Creation of at least 50 jobs for Omani citizens, with confirmation from the relevant government authorities.

    Corporate Nomination

    Companies with capital of at least OMR 200,000 may nominate partners or executives for residency, subject to the consent of all participants.

The minimum age of the applicant is 21 years.
The application may be submitted either from outside Oman or from within Oman.

Family Members

After obtaining a residency visa, the investor may apply for visas for family members, including:

  • spouse;
  • children;
  • parents

To obtain residency visas for family members, documents confirming the family relationship must be provided, with consular legalisation for Oman and translation into Arabic.

Children may obtain a residency visa as dependants until the age of 21.

Daughters may remain dependants until marriage, regardless of age. Children with disabilities may obtain a visa without age restrictions.

Visa Cost and Processing Time

The cost of obtaining a residency visa starts from OMR 500 per person, including government fees, medical examination and Resident Card.

After the investment has been confirmed through property or business registration, application processing takes 2–4 weeks.

The medical examination and issuance of the Resident Card in Oman take an additional 1–2 weeks.

Total processing time: from 1 to 2 months in a standard case.

Medical Insurance

Medical insurance is mandatory for obtaining a residency visa. Without medical insurance, a Resident Card will not be issued.

Estimated cost:

  • Basic plan, including outpatient and inpatient treatment — USD 300–600 per year per person;
  • Extended plan — USD 800–1,500 per year.

EInsurance may be arranged through local insurance companies, such as Oman Insurance and Al Madina Takaful, or through international brokers.

Opening a Bank Account

A resident has the right to open an account with an Omani bank.

Income earned in Oman is not required — a residency visa and Resident Card are sufficient.

To open an account, the following documents will be required:

  • Passport and Resident Card;
  • Proof of residential address in Oman, such as a tenancy agreement or property ownership documents;
  • Proof of source of funds, such as a statement from a foreign bank.
