Changing the mobile number is a simple online process through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), although you can also visit a service centre if needed.

The service is available for your own Emirates ID or for a dependant under your sponsorship, such as a spouse, child, or domestic worker. Only UAE mobile numbers can be linked to Emirates IDs.

Changing your mobile number online

You can complete the process through the ICP Smart Services website or the UAEICP mobile app. Both options follow a similar process:

  1. Sign in using UAE PASS.
  2. Open the Data Update or Update Personal Info service.
  3. Choose whether the change applies to your own details or those of a dependant.
  4. Enter the new mobile number and confirm it with the OTP sent by SMS.
  5. Add or update your email address and verify it.
  6. Enter your residential address details.
  7. Review the information and submit the request.

Once approved, the new mobile number will appear in your ICP records within a few hours to a few days. The Emirates ID card itself stays the same, as contact details do not appear on the card.

Updating your details in person

If the online service is not available or you have issues with UAE PASS or OTP verification, you can complete the update at an ICP Customer Happiness Centre or, in some emirates, a typing centre.

Bring your Emirates ID, passport, and valid residence visa when visiting the centre. The staff can assist with submitting the request and updating your contact details.

Processing times are generally similar to online applications.

Why keep your number updated?

Keeping your mobile number updated helps you access government and banking services without interruptions. The registered number is commonly used for:

  • UAE PASS login and verification codes;
  • ICP notifications, including visa reminders and status updates;
  • banking OTPs and transaction alerts; and
  • government services that require identity verification.

Make sure your contact details stay current to avoid issues when completing important transactions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the number for a family member?

Yes. You can change the mobile number linked to a dependant’s Emirates ID if they are under your sponsorship.

Can I link a foreign mobile number?

No. An Emirates ID can only be linked to a UAE mobile number.

What if I do not receive the OTP?

Check that the entered number is correct and that your SIM card is active and connected to the network. If the OTP still does not arrive, try submitting the request again or visit an ICP Customer Happiness Centre.

Will I receive a new Emirates ID card after updating my details?

No. Updating your mobile number or email address does not require a new Emirates ID card because these details are not printed on the card.
